Wardrobe Essentials: Fall Shoes
Since I wear a lot of basics within the same color scheme, it is so important to have a variety of styles of shoes. A different pair of shoes can completely transform an outfit, and make something either more dressy or more casual depending on which shoe you pair with it! If you start with these 6-7 styles, you will find that most of these shoes can be worn with just about anything!
Black Mules
Mules/slides are easily my favorite style of shoe right now. They are so versatile, comfortable, and make any outfit look more dressed up and put together, which I love. Here are some great black options:
Option 1 Obsessed with these! I keep going back to them and imagining them with distressed jeans and a chunky sweater! I love the heel height and the simple design.
Option 2 I wish I could find these loafers in stock but it looks like they are sold out everywhere online. (FYI: I saw them in Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago for like $19 which is crazy! They aren’t online but you might be able to find them in store!) These target ones are a great option, though. I cannot recommend this style of shoe enough. I have yet to find an outfit that these don’t look good with. They are cute with denim skirts, midi dresses, jeans, shorts, dress pants, even sweats/joggers! My favorite shoes ever! Maybe once I wear these out, I can justify an upgrade to these Gucci ones, though! :)
Option 3 I obviously have a thing for black mules because I am in love with these, too! I saw these in white at Target and thought to myself “I would love those if they came in black.” Then I was looking online a few days later and saw them! These are another shoe that could go with anything. They can be worn really dressy or really casual and look great both ways.
Neutral mules
Here are some neutral mules that I love!
Option 1 - I have loved these since I saw them around this time last year and now they are on sale!
Option 2 - Love these in both the black and nude, but I think I am partial to the nude. This is such a pretty shoe.
Option 3 - These look identical to a pair that Madewell has, but are a lot cheaper!
Sneakers
Here are some of my favorite sneakers that will complete any athleisure look:
Black booties
If there is one item I am most likely to splurge on, it’s a pair of boots. I have worn my fair share of cheap boots/booties, but there is just something so much more sophisticated about a pair of leather boots that speaks for themselves and lasts you more than just one season. Most of the booties listed are around $100-$150. I think it’s worth it to spend a little more
Option 1 - Seriously obsessed with these! The pointed toe, the elastic on the side, the low heel. These are the perfect everyday boot and can be worn with everything! Jeans, dresses, overalls, skirts, etc.
Neutral booties
For some reason, I always have a hard time finding tan or nude booties that I love. I am really picky when it comes to the heel hight, the material, and details. The simpler the better!
Option 1- I love these in both the Brown and Cloud Suede. They are such a classic fall shoe. I really want them, but suede shoes don’t last long in Portland with all the rain! These would look so good with any combination of jeans and a sweater or cardigan and you could wear them for years during the fall and winter!
Option 2- I have been wanting beige shoes like this for a while, and when I saw these at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, I knew I had to have them! They are so cute and super comfortable!
Option 3- Another great target find! I love the detail on these!
Printed Shoe
Since I wear a lot of neutrals and basics, it’s important to me to have something that can give more variety to any outfit!
Option 1 - Love these booties
Option 2 - These are probably the least practical thing I’ve listed in my style guide, but I still think they are so fun! They would be so cute with black dress pants, and a black turtleneck sweater
Option 3 - I LOVE these shoes! They would be so cute paired with a simple neutral sweater and distressed light wash jeans. I think I need them!
Strappy Heel (not pictured)
The best dress shoes. These are amazing to wear to work, weddings, or even just with jeans. I LOVE these shoes! They are simple, chic, and surprisingly comfortable. I would wear these for 8+ hours at a time and be on my feet all day and they were seriously amazing! I love the black suede because they are appropriate to wear all year long.
